What was once a happy, peaceful, productive city, full of life and activity, has fallen into the hands of a secret criminal syndicate. The leader of the syndicate has somehow managed to keep his identity a secret. The organization soon absorbed the city government (anyone can be had if the price is right). They even had the metropolitan police force in their back pocket.
Looting, random violence and destruction are rampant. No one is safe walking the streets, day or night.
As the chaos continued at full strength, three young police officers tried to establish a special attack unit. They were repeatedly turned down by their superiors, most of who had been bought by the organisation or were too afraid to make a stand.
One day, when they could no longer stand by and watch their city being demolished, they quit the force! Adam Hunter, Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding decided to forego their careers in legal law enforcement and put their lives on the line. They are without weapons, but each possesses great hand-to-hand combat abilities. Take them into the heart of the city and battle the most dangerous wave of bad dudes and chicks ever assembled. Make the city a place where people no longer have to walk the Streets of Rage! The Remake: Streets of Rage Remake (also known as Bare Knuckle Remake) is a mind-blowing SOR fangame, released by Bombergames in 2011 on the Microsoft Windows platform.
It is ultimately designed as a remake of the original Mega Drive trilogy, though in some ways it can be seen as a true sequel to SOR3. It is considered by the SOR fan community as a whole to be the definitive SOR fangame, with some going as far as calling it the SOR4 that Sega never made. Truly, it has to be played to be believed - it really is that good. In my personal opinion, Streets of Rage Remake v5 (the final version of the game) has been produced to such a high standard I would expect no less from Sega themselves.
Kudos to the development team for that exceptional achievement! The game is programmed from scratch in Fenix programming language (which was developed specifically for 2D games development). It does not use reverse engineering nor a single line of code from the original games. It's all based on visual interpretation, and also sports a whole host of special features and upgrades which bring the SOR gameplay experience into the 21st century, without compromising the classic 'feel' of the originals. The game has 18 playable characters, including a fully recreated Adam in SOR2/3 style, new characters 'Rudra' and 'Elle' (Electra) and a host of awesome new music remixes!
X and the Syndicate are back (again!), more powerful than ever! It's time to once again walk the Streets of Rage! Personal Info: This port came about because it was requested to have an updated version to work on Yosemite. The original port was downloaded from Streets of Rage Online and I updated the Frameworks folder, the wrapper version and the engine version from WS8 to WS9. I also added registry entries to the Direct3D section of the user.reg file.
The video options have a few settings that change the visual state of the game. It's highly suggested that these settings are change for the most enjoyable experience this game can provide. Tested System Specs: 2011 MacBook Pro OS X 10.10.4 Yosemite Core i7 @ 2.2GHz w/ 16GB RAM RadeonHD 6750M w/ 512MB vRAM 1GB HD space required Installation: Mount the Streets of Rage Remake v5.1 disk image Drag and drop the Streets of Rage Remake.app to your preferred gaming folder Double click to play Enjoy! I should be able to test this on High Sierra in the next few days. Not sure if it's relevant to why this game specifically doesn't seem to working. There's a bug that prevents Wineskin execution when the app is launched with the detection option enabled, which is a default setting. With the Wineskin app launched, choose Set Screen Options and uncheck the box next to Auto Detect GPU for Direct3D.
Most ports that have had an issue on High Sierra were resolved with this instruction. Tried that, right click show contents and opening the Wineskin app. But still double clicking doesn't open the game. I just would like to let you know that I have this port running smoothly on a 2012 MacMini with High Sierra OS with all the latest updates. The trick here is to apply that workaround mentioned in a previous comment for that known bug involving Wineskin and High Sierra. After you install the game according to the instructions above, go to the folder where you installed it and follow these steps: - Right-click the 'Streets of Rage Remake' app, then click on 'Show package contents'; - In the following window, locate and double-click the Wineskin app; - In the Wineskin initial screen, click on 'Set screen options'; - In the next screen, uncheck the 'Auto Detect GPU for Direct3D' option under the section 'Other options'; - Click on 'Done'; - Back to the Wineskin initial screen, click on 'Quit'. Now you just need to go back to the folder where the SORR app is installed, double-click it, and enjoy the game.
