I am looking for an inexpensive personal camcorder for personal fun use. Besides all the features that I can select in a camcorder while shopping around on the internet for the one I would like there is one feature that is very important to me that the camera must have and for the life of me I can't find out what the technical name of the feature is so that when I am looking at camcorder features I will know if that particular camcorder has the feature. The feature I am referring to is the ability for me to Live Preview what I am recording at the moment on a large screen TV. So in easy terms I guess you would say the TV can be used as a very large viewfinder instead of the standard 3' view finders on the camcorders now.

My main use will be for guests at my home to be able to sit down in front of the camcorder while it is set up on a tri-pod and record blogs. I want them to be able to see themselves on the large screen TV while they are filming themselves at that very moment. At one point I thought I understood what function the camcorder needed to have and that is an HDMI port.

Apparently I was incorrect in this thinking. I have read that some camcorders although having an HDMI port that when you record the screen on the TV goes blank/black and the only time you can use the TV as an oversized monitor/screen is during playback of the recorded video. So my main question is what is the actual name of this feature that allows you to live preview what is being recorded on a TV while it is being recorded?

Thank you very much. At one point I thought I understood what function the camcorder needed to have and that is an HDMI port. Apparently I was incorrect in this thinking. I have read that some camcorders although having an HDMI port that when you record the screen on the TV goes blank/black and the only time you can use the TV as an oversized monitor/screen is during playback of the recorded video. The 750/770 will continue to transmit on the HDMI port while recording. Both the HDMI and A/V ports will give you a picture and sound.

I use mine to run a monitor while recording. It is true that cheaper models will switch off this transmission while recording, the 750 does not.
